Pool Fencing: Three Essential Guidelines for Glass Barrier Installation

Posted on

Glass pool fencing is popular in the residential market because of its luxurious appearance. Unlike wood, steel and vinyl fences, the glass fence does not compromise the appeal of the home. Instead, the barrier will enhance the beauty of the pool and make the property look more spacious. Unfortunately, the cost of purchasing and installing glass fences can be high. This can be a major problem if you have a limited budget. Therefore, if you are concerned about the financial implications, you should consider installing the fence as a DIY project. Here are some simple tips to help ensure optimal success when setting up your glass pool fencing.

Mark Your Points of Attachments

You should begin your project by marking out the pavement on which you plan to install the glass fencing. You must never attempt to drill the ground without confirming the ideal points of spigot attachment or post placement. Otherwise, your glass panels will not be in perfect alignment. You should make a chalk line to outline the path on which the barrier will be placed. Also, use a pencil mark to identify the points on which you will install spigots or posts.

Drill the Concrete Slab or Pavement

You will need to drill the pavement or concrete slab after identifying the ideal points for attaching your supporting posts or spigots. Under ideal circumstances, you should use a suitable core drill to create the holes. This type of machine will also allow you to set the right diameter for installing your posts of spigots. You can rent the drill from a local equipment supplier for your project. After removing the core, you should clean the holes with plenty of water and a sponge.

Attach Your Spigots

Once the holes are drilled, you can attach your supporting spigots or install the posts for framed glass fencing. The specific method for installation will depend on the type and brand of glass panels that you have purchased for your swimming pool barrier. Therefore, you should check the instructions included with the product, or you can consult the manufacturer. Typically, you will need to loosen the grub screws attached to the spigot, slide the spigot into the position and then tighten the screws. You can erect the glass panels as instructed after the spigots are set up.

Installing a pool glass fence can be challenging if you have no experience and are working alone. Therefore, you should consult a professional contractor for assistance to avoid mishaps during and after the project.
